Michael Bailey is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work is informed by a decades-long career in the performing arts. A graduate of the Mason Gross School of the Arts/Rutgers University, Michael spent years navigating the nuances of character and narrative in film, television, theater, and more. But his desire for tangible expression led him from the spotlight to the studio, bringing a new emphasis to his love of the dramatic.
Michael's transition into visual arts began with a formal apprenticeship in stained glass, sparking a technical expansion into woodworking, resin casting, and photography. By pivoting from the "medium of the self" to the "medium of the hand," Michael creates tactile and visual works that bridge his East Coast roots with a contemporary, exploratory aesthetic. His unique use of materials and interplay of bright colors have become a trademark in his work.
